Music

Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.                                                                 ~ Berthold Auerbach Working in the kitchen is tedious sometimes.  I haven't always felt like this.  I used to love playing with food, trying out new flavor combinations, learning what worked and what didn't.   But after decades of  following recipes, developing recipes, or just throwing things together, I'm kind of tired of the whole thing. OK, I'll admit that being tired most of the time anyway doesn't help, but preparing food frequently feels more like work than the play.  Nevertheless, my family has to eat, and relying on having all our food prepared for us in the form of fast food, restaurant meals, etc. just isn't an option for us. So, to make the work less tedious, I like to play music while I work.  I enjoy a varitey of music, but today I would like to share a video created by my nephew, Tyler.  Tyler Lane is an amazing yo

Cookie Dough in the Freezer

Image
Some people enjoy baking. I am not one of them. I do, however, enjoy eating baked goods. I especially love homemade cookies. To avoid having to make dough from scratch every time I want to bake cookies, I usually freeze part of the cookie dough whenever I make a batch. Then I can take out the frozen dough balls to bake at a later time. Here’s the method I use for making and storing the frozen cookie dough: Cut a piece of waxed paper about twice the size of a gallon zipper-seal freezer bag. If the paper isn’t exactly the right size, just fold over one edge to make it work. Measure out the cookie dough portions on the waxed paper, leaving a little space between them so they don’t stick together. The area covered by the dough balls should be smaller than the size of the zipper-seal bag. Fold over the remaining waxed paper to cover the dough balls, and slip the entire package into the zipper-seal bag. Repeat, and layer 2 or 3 “dough packages” into each bag. Label and put in

Betty Crocker® Gluten Free Brownie Mix Review

Image
I love brownies. Their chocolaty goodness and chewy texture get me every time. I just can’t leave them alone. Now with all this brownie-love going on, you would expect that I might have tried making gluten free brownies from scratch. There are probably some good recipes out there, but have I tried any of them? No, I have not. So until recently, my family has been brownie-deprived. Fortunately, Betty Crocker® has come out with a line of gluten free baking mixes that includes a brownie mix. Betty Crocker® Gluten Free Brownie Mix makes absolutely delicious brownies! They are rich, chewy, and chocolaty (is that a real word?). They are good brownies, they’re easy to make, and they are gluten free. Glutino Sandwich Cookie Review

Image
Glutino , one of my favorite brands of gluten free foods, produces two kinds of delicious sandwich cookies.  The Glutino Chocolate Vanilla Crème Cookies , which are gluten-free chocolate sandwich cookies filled with vanilla cream, resemble Oreo® cookies.  These cookies have a slightly gritty mouthfeel, but other than that, they are like eating an Oreo®, but gluten free.  Yum! Their Vanilla Crème Cookies , which are gluten-free vanilla sandwich cookies filled with vanilla cream, are similar to Mother's® English Tea Cookies.  These Glutino gluten-free cookies are sooooo good! Cindy If you aren't able to find them where you live, you can purchase them over the internet.  I will receive a small percentage of the purchase price if you purchase items through my Amazon.com links.
